These are Croatia’s most welcoming regions in 2026, according to travellers

ZAGREB, 18 March 2026 – Varaždin County has been named the most welcoming region in Croatia in the latest Traveller Review Awards, based on millions of reviews from travellers around the world.
The annual awards, organised by Booking.com, recognise destinations and tourism partners that consistently deliver outstanding hospitality and memorable guest experiences.
According to the latest rankings, Varaždin County took first place, followed by Vukovar-Srijem County in second place and Osijek-Baranja County in third.

“We are proud that Varaždin County has been recognised as the most welcoming region in Croatia,” said Goran Mališ, director of the county’s tourist board.
“This award reflects the dedication of our hosts and tourism workers who strive every day to create memorable experiences for visitors.”

Karlovac County and Krapina-Zagorje County rounded out the top five most welcoming regions in the country.
The Traveller Review Awards are based on more than 370 million verified traveller reviews, making them one of the largest hospitality recognition programmes in the global travel industry.
This year, 58,707 tourism partners across Croatia received the award, highlighting the country’s strong reputation for warm hospitality and high-quality accommodation.
“Behind every positive review is a host, property owner or tourism professional who has gone the extra mile to ensure guests feel welcome,” said Maja Vikario, regional manager for Croatia at Booking.com.
She added that the awards recognise the dedication and care partners put into every stay and travel experience.
