Speaking to the media at Dubrovnik Airport, where he was visiting the construction site of the city’s new passenger terminal, Merton said that he hoped in the near future there would be direct flights connecting the two countries.
“It is good to see progress here at (Dubrovnik) airport. For Croatia it is important to plan for growth, and me as American ambassador I am happy to see that arrivals from American citizens to the Dubrovnik County is growing, and by 20%. I hope this year it is more, ” Merton said, adding that he hoped it was not far away that direct flights between the US and Croatia would be operational.
“Prerequisites for that to happen are being put in place,” daily Slobodna Dalmacija reported him as saying.
Direct flights from Canada to Croatia will commence this summer with SkyGreece Airlines launching flights from Toronto to Zagreb.
