University School of Croatian Language and Culture Opens in Zagreb

Croatia34 Students from 14 countries, including Italy, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Bolivia and Denmark, will in a month’s time be speaking more Croatian than they did today, as the University School of Croatian Language and Culture opened again in Zagreb yesterday…

The University School of Croatian Language and Culture is designed for young people of Croatian origin, and also those who wish to learn about Croatia, acquire or expand their knowledge of it and learn or improve Croatian as a foreign language.

“My boyfriend is from Zagreb, we have been together 5 years and I want to learn the language and his culture,” 26-year-old Kierstin Bolton from the U.S told daily Vecernji list.

The students will be put through their paces during 120 academic hours, which will include, grammar lessons, as well as a history and culture programme which includes field trips to the Hrvatsko Zagorje region, and Plitvice Lakes National Park. All of the students will sit their final exam on 18 July.
