SEECEL building in Zagreb
ZAGREB, 27 June (Hina) – The University School of Croatian Language and Culture, intended for young people of Croatian descent and other students interested in learning about Croatia, was officially opened on Tuesday, with this year’s programme hosting 27 participants from 11 countries, the University of Zagreb said.
The school, organised by the University of Zagreb and the Croatian Heritage Foundation (HMI), was opened in the building of the Southeast European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL) in Zagreb.
This year, participants come from Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, Canada, Hungary, the Netherlands, the USA, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
As in previous years, among the participants are scholarship holders from partner universities and institutions: the University of Pécs (Hungary), the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Rosario (Argentina), and the University of Glasgow (UK, Scotland).
The programme includes 120 hours of instruction, including field classes. Language instruction covers grammar and practical language use, with Croatian language knowledge divided into nine levels. The culture programme, organised by the HMI, includes academic and field lectures on Croatian culture and history, guided visits to various cultural and scientific institutions, and study trips to the region of Zagorje and Plitvice Lakes.
Participants who pass the Croatian language exam will receive a diploma from the University of Zagreb.
This year’s classes are held until 18 July.
