ZAGREB, 9 May, 2019 – MMA legend Alistair Overeem was back in Croatia again yesterday and he had nothing but praise for the country.

The former Dream, Strikeforce and K-1 world champion and current UFC fighter Alistair Overeem was in the Croatian capital Zagreb on Wednesday holding a training seminar and meet and greet with fans as part of American Top Team’s four-year birthday celebrations in Europe.

The English-born Dutchman, who is no stranger to Croatia, visiting Karlovac, Zagreb and Split before, was happy to be back.

“It is great to be back here, it is good to see friends. I feel very welcome here, every time I come, there is a lot of love, a lot of support. I think Croatians love fighters and there is a lot of support so I really like to come here, especially in the summer, “ Overeem said whilst he was a guest on the popular Podcast Inkubator.

‘The Reem’ is somewhat of an ambassador for Croatian tourism.

“In the summer Croatia is one of the best places in the world and everywhere I go I tell people. When I am in America I am always talking about the Croatian coast because Split and Dubrovnik are beautiful cities. I think Split is 2,000 years old and still in the same state, and Americans they have never really experienced this. I always say go to Croatia.”

Overeem (38) has UFC heavyweight victories to his name against the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski, Junior dos Santos, and Brock Lesnar. He was knocked out in the first round by Croatian-American Miocic in the UFC heavyweight title fight in 2016.

When he retires, Overeem says he will likely live between Thailand, Holland and USA.
