The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) held its regular Assembly at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb on Tuesday, led by president Marijan Kustić.

The session began with the national anthem and a moment of silence in honour of those lost since the last meeting, including former Croatian international Nikola Pokrivač.

UEFA Seat and Strong Support

President Kustić reflected on recent successes, highlighting his election to the UEFA Executive Committee as recognition of HNS’s collective achievements.

He thanked the Government, UEFA and FIFA for supporting infrastructure projects such as the construction of the national training camp and upcoming renovation of the HNS headquarters.

He praised Croatia’s national teams – including the senior team, U-17s, and futsal side – and expressed confidence ahead of Euro qualifiers.

The domestic league was described as exciting and competitive, with strong TV rights interest expected.

Government Backs Football Infrastructure

Tourism and Sports Minister Tonči Glavina praised HNS’s role in promoting youth development and enhancing Croatia’s global sporting image.

He confirmed Government support for building a new stadium in Zagreb and renovating the one in Split.

UEFA and FIFA Praise Croatian Football

Representatives from FIFA and UEFA, Marco Ferri and Mario Georgiou, congratulated Kustić on his UEFA role and praised Croatia’s football legacy – especially the three World Cup medals since 1998.

FIFA reaffirmed its support through the Forward programme, including the U-15 Vlatko Marković tournament.

Finances and Forward Planning

HNS reported a budget surplus of €1.48 million in 2024, with all planned activities completed.

The audit firm PwC confirmed the Federation’s financial reports were fully compliant and accurate. FIFA’s Forward 3.0 funds will support new U-17 and U-19 futsal leagues in 2025.

Recognition and Vision

The Assembly acknowledged the strategic and organised work behind the Federation’s results.

Nearly 50 artificial turf pitches have been built across the country, with continued investment in youth, futsal, and women’s football.
