Dinamo Zagreb has surprised Belgium side Anderlecht in matchday two of the UEFA Europa League.

After thrashing Turkish side Fenerbahçe 4-1 at Maksimir stadium on opening matchday, the Croatian champions have beaten Anderlecht 2-0 at Constant Vanden Stock stadium in Brussels on Thursday night.

Although Anderlecht started the match the more urgent of the two sides it would be the visitors who would take the lead after Bruno Petković was brought down in the box and Izet Hajrović made no mistake from the spot.

Dinamo Zagreb, playing in an all fluorescent yellow kit, could have easily doubled the lead just three minutes later when Mislav Oršić and then Amer Gojak had great chances saved by Anderlecht’s keeper.

Dinamo started the second half strong and had two great chances to go extend their lead through Hajrović and Dani Olmo as they started to control the match.

After a number of chances the Croatians finally doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Gojak’s powerful shot deflected in past the helpless Anderlecht keeper.

The score remained 2-0 as Dinamo settled to hold the lead and they now go top of Group D with the win with 6 points. Fenerbahçe beat Spartak Trnava from Slovakia in the other match tonight.
