ZAGREB, 28 February 2020 – Croatia now has 7 restaurants with a Michelin star after two more restaurants were awarded the prestigious star on Friday.

LD Terrace in Korčula, run by Chef Marko Gajski, and Boškinac in Novalja on the island of Pag met the strict criteria and became the sixth and seventh restaurants to receive the honour of a Michelin star in Croatia.

LD Terrace is located in Lešić Dimitri Palace in the Old Town on the island of Korčula.

“Our inspiration comes from the Adriatic coast’s beautiful gardens – above and below sea level. We are connected to Korčula’s indigenous seasonal produce,” the restaurant says.

Boškinac is renowned for its modern and creative twist on traditional island cuisine, respecting the culinary heritage of the island of Pag with a wide selection of fish and lamb dishes, cheeses, pršut, olive oils and honey.

Noel in Zagreb, Draga di Lovrana in Lovran, Monte in Rovinj, Pelegrini in Šibenik and 360 in Dubrovnik all kept their Michelin star status.

The announcement of the new stars in Croatia came as the 2020 Michelin Guide for Croatia was announced.

“This year’s selection reflects the positive trends on the Croatian food scene, all around the country. With a total of 70 restaurants in the Guide, Croatian cuisine is evolving and improving, especially by concentrating the energies of the chefs into selecting the best meat and vegetables from the local territories and the freshest fish from small-scale fishing,” Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of MICHELIN Guides, said.

The new MICHELIN Guide Croatia 2020 features two additional Bib Gourmand restaurants. The Konoba Škoj (Šolta Island) restaurant offers excellent value for money – Mediterranean and local influences ensure a dynamic cuisine with warm flavours. Perched on the hills in the middle of their vineyards, the Zlatne Gorice restaurant in Varaždin Breg delivers the perfect harmony of reinvented traditional dishes and local wines, all in a very elegant atmosphere, Michelin said.
