Two earthquakes hit Dalmatia within minutes

Central Dalmatia was struck by two earthquakes within minutes of each other on Monday afternoon, according to data from European seismological services.
The first earthquake, measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 5:25 pm local time. The epicentre was located around 39 kilometres north of Split and 22 kilometres northwest of Sinj, at a depth of approximately five kilometres.
A second, slightly stronger earthquake followed at 5:38 pm. Seismologists recorded the tremor at magnitude 3.9, with the epicentre situated around 37 kilometres north of Split and about 15 kilometres northwest of Sinj.
The second quake occurred at a shallower depth of around three kilometres.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries or material damage.

Residents from several parts of central Dalmatia reported feeling strong tremors, with comments posted on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre describing the shaking as brief but noticeable.
The earthquakes were felt across a wider area of central Dalmatia, including parts of the Split and Sinj regions.
