Two Croatians make big-5 leagues’ best XI for 2021

Two Croatian internationals have featured in the best XI for each of the five major European leagues selected by The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES). 

The best XI for the the Premier League in England, the Bundesliga in Germany, La Liga in Spain, Serie A in Italy and Ligue 1 in France were selected based on the CIES Performance Index. 

Luka Modrić made the best XI in La Liga, whilst Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozović was selected in the best XI in Serie A for 2021.

Only players who played at least 900 domestic league minutes since the start of the 2021/22 season were included in the line-ups.

Premier League – England

Edouard Mendy (Chelsea); Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Rubén Días (Manchester City), Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City), Joao Cancelo (Manchester City); Rodri (Manchester City), Henderson (Liverpool), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City); Salah (Liverpool), Diego Jota (Liverpool), Mané (Liverpool).

Bundesliga – Germany

Neuer (Bayern); Meunier (Borussia Dortmund), Lucas Hernández (Bayern), Upamecano (Bayern), Alphonso Davies (Bayern); Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Josua Kimmich (Bayern), Sané (Bayern), Reus (Borussia Dortmund); Lewandoski (Bayern), Patrick Shick (Bayer Leverkusen).

Spain – La Liga
