Croatia is among the most searched for international destinations by travellers in the UK looking for a summer break in 2021.

During the week, the government’s announced a plan on easing lockdown in England, prompting travellers to tentatively book summer holidays.

Croatia, and in particularly the coastal cities of Split and Dubrovnik, is top of the list of desired holiday spots for Brits who, like most of Europe, have been in strict lockdown for much of the winter.

Along with Croatia, France and Spain are the most sought-after places for a holiday overseas.

“Since the Government announcement yesterday there seems to be a real sense of optimism amongst us Brits and I am sure I am not the only one who is counting down the days until travel restrictions are eased,” said booking.com Regional Manager Ryan Pearson, who added.

“We look forward to travel resuming when the time is right, and this is great news not only for travellers, but also for the tourism industry and economy as whole.”

Meanwhile, tour operator TUI reported that they recorded the most bookings in more than a month on Monday with a 600 percent increase after the announcement.

Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković said that there has been an increase in hotel bookings in Dubrovnik by between 30-40% from the previous days.
