Bosnian cuisine is a special mixture of oriental, Mediterranean and continental European cuisine. Many of the traditional dishes have been made from the same recipes for hundreds of years.

Mostly based on meat, bread, and dairy, it certainly can sound heavy, but its rich taste and extraordinary ingredients are definitely enjoyable for everyone’s taste buds!

Taj Mahal first started as a tiny venue in the Old Town of Dubrovnik, where the owners, a young married couple Edin and Edina, shared their passion for Bosnian cuisine.

Inviting smell spreading from the grill and stove in their Old Town restaurant is very popular with both locals and tourists ever since their opened a door back in 2004.

Taj Mahal’s sister restaurant opened in 2013 in hotel Lero. They present a freedom to their guests what the Bosnian cuisine is really about. The moment you step in, you are transported into another world.

The accent is on fresh meat (and if you’re planning a cook up a barbecue this is the place to come), although they also sell salami-style sausage for those who want something for picnics or on-the-move snacks. They stock the kind of locally-produced relishes and chill sauces that make ideal souvenirs.

Taj Butcheraj is a kind of meat boutique, a butcher that is distinct from all the other objects of this kind in the county because they offer only free-range meat breed exclusively on Croatian farms and mostly from small family farms.
