Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall has described Croatia as “one of the most beautiful places” he has ever visited following a high-profile trip to the country.
The 33-year-old British fighter was a headline guest at the Split Sports Festival & International Summit, held in the coastal city of Split last week.
During his stay in Split, Aspinall also visited Krka National Park, Poljud Stadium – home of Hajduk Split and Visovac Island, known for its monastery.
Aspinall also sampled traditional Dalmatian cuisine, including lamb on the spit, which he described as “unreal”, as well as a fresh fish feast.
The UFC champion was hosted by Croatian native Stipe Drviš, who serves as his striking and boxing coach.
Speaking about his experience, Aspinall was full of praise for the country.
“Croatia, what a place. Love it. One of the most beautiful places, if not the most beautiful place I’ve ever been in my life. Amazing,” he said.
