Thousands join Facebook group to help elderly in Zagreb during coronavirus outbreak

Almost 5,000 people in under 24 hours have joined a Facebook group created to help out the elderly during the coronavirus outbreak.

Last night, the Facebook group Jedni za druge (one for another) launched. The group brings together all those who want to help the elderly and sick in the days ahead.

“Given the coronavirus situation and the number of people currently in self-isolation, we have decided to create a group to help those who are currently unable to leave the home, are in quarantine, poor health and the like,” the group’s creators said.

Currently, the group has gathered several people in different neighbourhoods around Zagreb who will deliver food, medicines and other things to the home of those quarantined or unable to go out.

“Whoever is interested and has time to help, has a means of transportation (bike, car, car, legs) can contact us and write down which neighbourhood they are able to carry supplies. Also, if you are currently in self-isolation, write a post in the group you need and indicate your neighbourhood so they can be organised more easily.”
