Marko Perković Thompson is preparing for his mega concert which will take place on 5 July at Zagreb’s Hippodrome.

With over 500,000 tickets sold, it will officially be the largest ever ticketed concert in the world.

Preparations are already well underway. Construction of the enormous stage has been ongoing for weeks, with a strong emphasis placed on crowd safety, given the unprecedented scale of the event.

At a press conference held today at Hotel Westin in Zagreb, Thompson’s team addressed key logistical and organisational details surrounding the concert.

They also responded to recent media speculation regarding safety concerns, firmly stating that the event is not classified as high-risk by the authorities.

Massive Stage Production

Producer Branimir Mihaljević highlighted the seriousness of the undertaking, noting the team is fully aware of the scale and responsibilities that come with hosting the world’s largest concert.

The stage, designed by Miroslav Hrg, will be the size of a 12-storey building, covering 1,500 square metres. It will feature 1,100 lighting fixtures, 2,100 LED screens, pyrotechnics, and flame effects.

A spectacular drone show is also planned, with 1,000 drones set to light up the sky, forming visuals of the performance throughout the two-and-a-half-hour concert.

App for Fans

To streamline logistics, the team has developed a special mobile app named “MPT” – a Croatian-made innovation designed to assist with organisation and crowd communication.

The app will allow concertgoers to upload tickets, receive updates, and will operate offline if needed.

The app will also become the main communication channel between visitors and organisers.

The app will also have a navigation algorithm that will guide visitors to the entrance, respecting current traffic regulations.

Attendees are urged to download the app and submit details in advance to help with planning and crowd control. All information will be available next week and the app will also have the option to be in English.

Focus on Safety and Comfort

There will be 4 fan zones next to the Hippodrome where concert goers can gather from the morning hours. There will be security checks there before entry to save time. Bundek, located across the road from the venue, will be one of the special fan zones.

Organisers have made major provisions for safety and comfort, including:

• 5,000 bartenders
• 2,500 toilets and urinals
• 3,000 security personnel
• 50–80 emergency medical teams
• 2.5 million bottles of water
• 2 kilometres of bar space

A mobile hospital is also being planned on-site to ensure quick medical response without needing to leave the venue.

The team stressed that they are in full coordination with city officials and emergency services, and that communication with public bodies is ongoing to ensure a safe event.

Weather and Traffic Planning

If light rain occurs on the day, the concert will go ahead with the stage and band protected. In case of heavy storms, the concert would be postponed, in accordance with regulations, to a date within 15 days, most likely the following day or the following weekend.

Traffic plans and road closures are still being finalised in cooperation with the City of Zagreb, with more details expected soon. Visitors are advised to prepare for potential congestion and use public transport where possible.

Merchandise and New Music

Ahead of the show, Thompson has launched official merchandise including concert t-shirts and caps. He also announced that a new album titled Hodočasnik will be released prior to the concert.
