New €17.6 million thermal hotel opens in Croatia with year-round wellness focus

STUBIČKE TOPLICE, 28 August 2026 – A new four-star thermal hotel has opened in Stubičke Toplice, marking a major investment aimed at combining medical rehabilitation, wellness and year-round tourism in Croatia’s continental interior.

Thermal Hotel Wrello officially opened on Thursday as part of the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation Stubičke Toplice.

The investment, worth more than €17.6 million, includes a new hotel, a covered swimming pool complex and additional wellness facilities.

The hotel has 36 rooms and two suites, providing around 70 beds, as well as a restaurant with 100 seats. It is physically connected to existing hospital facilities, allowing medical rehabilitation and thermal tourism services to operate together.

A new physiotherapy department equipped for different forms of physical therapy has also been established within the complex.

The previously open-air pool facilities have been covered, allowing the thermal and wellness offer to operate throughout the year, rather than being dependent on seasonal weather.

The project also incorporates energy-efficiency measures, including photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, low-emission glazing and a central building management system.

The investment has also created 34 new jobs, with the new employees coming from Krapina-Zagorje County.

The project is designed to strengthen Stubičke Toplice’s position as a destination for health and wellness tourism while supporting the development of continental Croatia as a year-round tourism destination.
