The Cover Story by Silvana Menđušić to Hit Cinemas

1A young woman and actress in search of her own identity outside the world of false glamour and images that the media portray, finally decided to do something important, not for others, but for herself. The film captures the moments she makes the decision…

Zagreb, 6 October – On Saturday 11 October the documentary film ‘Naslovnica’ by Silvana Menđušić will begin screenings at Zagreb cinemas. The film from 11 October will play at Dokukino (KIC), on 12 October at Metropolis (MSU), and at Art kino Grič on 13 October. After Zagreb, the film will play at independent cinemas until the end of October in a number of cities in Croatia.

Naslovnica was made over two years in Split, and records a series of moments in the life of the young actress Dolores Lambaša who died tragically in a car accident in 2013. In 2013 Croatia entered its fifth year of recession, unemployment had reached record highs, the nation joined the EU, and the constitutional definition of marriage was decided by a conservative majority. In that year, despite all the events, the most read news article on Croatian portals was about her death.

Moving between reality and fiction, the camera records rare candid moments in which the playful young woman and talented actress, which strongly wished that the public liked her, talks about her own fears and expectations, and discusses her intense relationship with the media and the decision to make a change.

In one rather ugly dialogue in the film, faced with the question whether or not she could even go out and hold three hundred people attentive for an hour, Dolores does not reply. This movie presents the effort the team of authors made to show that she can do it, and that she will have the possibility to flourish one last time on the big screen.

The film premiered in February 2014 at ZagrebDox, with the public reaction highly emotional, and also played during the summer at the Liburnia Film Festival u Ičići, where is was also warmly received.
