Thailand Tuna Pulled From Croatian Shelves

Croatia’s Department of Agriculture has reported via their website that two brands of tuna, imported from Thailand, are to be withdrawn immediately from the Croatian market because of high amounts of histamine found in the products.

LARA – tuna chunks in soya oil and ISKA – tuna chunks in vegetable oil, lot: SKSFOEAD, with a manufacture date of 03.04.2012, and an expiry date of 30.04.2015, are the brands in question.

Tests revealed that the products present a risk to consumers’ health, especially for people intolerant to histamine and fish by-products, and children and pregnant women. Excessive consumption of fish and fish products contaminated with histamine could lead to acute allergic reactions, reported index.hr.
