Tesla gets approval for supervised self-driving system in Croatia

Tesla has received approval to deploy its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system in Croatia, opening the way for the technology to be introduced on Croatian roads.
The announcement was made by Tesla on Tuesday, with the company saying implementation would begin soon.
The approval concerns Tesla’s FSD Supervised system, meaning that despite its advanced driving capabilities, the technology does not make the vehicle fully autonomous. A driver remains responsible for supervising the vehicle and must be ready to intervene.
Croatia’s approval comes as European countries continue to assess Tesla’s driver-assistance technology and its use on public roads.
Reuters reported that Croatia has now joined a growing group of European countries that have authorised Tesla’s supervised FSD system.
The development is significant for Croatia because it brings one of the world’s most closely watched driver-assistance systems into the country’s automotive market.
Tesla’s FSD technology is designed to perform a range of driving tasks, although the precise functions available can depend on regulatory approval and the version of the software.
The European rollout has been gradual. Several countries have approved the system during 2026, while regulators have continued to examine issues including driver supervision, road behaviour and safety.
The Croatian approval does not mean drivers can legally use a completely autonomous vehicle without supervision.
Tesla’s system remains a supervised driving technology, with a human driver required to remain attentive and responsible for the vehicle.

The timing also comes as European regulators consider the wider future of advanced automated driving systems.
For Croatian Tesla owners, the approval could eventually mean access to functions that have so far not been available under the same regulatory conditions in the country.
Tesla said the rollout would begin soon, although the company did not provide a detailed Croatian launch timetable in its announcement.
The move marks another step in the expansion of increasingly sophisticated driver-assistance technology across Europe and puts Croatia among the latest markets to open the door to Tesla’s supervised self-driving software.
