Swiss Company Capitalizes On Nationalistic Balkans

A Swiss watch manufacturer is capitalizing on patriotic Croatians, Serbs and Montenegrins. The company, who wish to remain anonymous, are producing watches with Croatian general Ante Gotovina’s face, and the crests of Serbia and Montenegro. The owner also says plans are in the pipeline for watches to be made for patriotic Bosnians, Turks, Russians and Poles.

“I started doing these during the war. Soon as something happens on the political scene, nationalism appears,” said the company owner to Blic, who says that he has done very well out of the watches.

“Of course it has paid off!,” quipped the owner when asked if they had done well out of the watches, saying that they sell the most watches in the diaspora.
