Students Make Solar-Powered Smart Bench in Zadar

Solar-powered ‘smart’ benches, which not only provided a place to sit and rest but also can charge mobile phones, tablets and laptops, are popping up more and more in Croatia…

The latest smart bench can be found in the Dalmatian city of Zadar. Then bench was made by students at the Vice Vlatković school, and is placed proudly at the school’s entrance. The bench is equipped with 6 double USB ports, two 230V sockets, three 140W photovoltaic panels, two gel batteries per 165Ah, 600W DC/AC inverter and three 10W HP LED spotlights.

The students involved in the project, under the watchful eye of teachers Branimir Vukić, Tomislav Božičević and Denis Pleslić, were Antonio Gobin, Borna Kalanj, Ivan Grgec, Nino Pekas, Marko Vlasnović, Steffano Mišić, Luka Šiljak, Romeo-Đeno Skroče, Dino Stipanov, Stjepan Amidžić, Ivan Božić, Marino Knežević, Marino Kristić, and Borna Barešić.
