New film about “The Police” drummer Stewart Copeland in Croatia for European debut

A new feature documentary, Copeland, about the life and music of Stewart Copeland, drummer of the band “The Police,” announces its European Premiere this summer, set to play the Croatian International Film Festival in Šibenik in July, after opening at the Raindance Film Festival in London and embarking on an international film festival run.

From Emmy-winning executive producers John Alexander, Shawn Rhodes (Little Satchmo), and Tarquin Gotch (Home Alone), Copeland is directed by Pablo Aragüés of Redwood Films in Spain, who has described the film as a ‘drum solo in film form’.

Copeland will make its E.U. Premiere on Saturday July 25th at 11pm outdoors in the Main Square of Šibenik, followed by a Q&A with the film’s executive producer, John Alexander.

Copeland features never before seen material with Stewart Copeland, from both personal and professional angles, covering his youth, bands, composing career, creative direction, and beyond.

The film delves deep into what makes the rockstar tick, relying heavily on his own introspective musings. He sums it up: “I’m still trying to figure out who I am.”

Copeland’s debut marks 20 years since the Sundance Film Festival premiere of the musician’s Super 8mm independent film Everyone Stares.

Following the European premiere, Copeland will tour throughout Europe and the U.S.A. through the end of the year, beginning with the C.L.I.T. Film Festival in August in Lisbon, Portugal.
