Six tourist medical clinics in Split-Dalmatia to operate this summer

Split-Dalmatia County is continuing to reinforce its tourism safety and healthcare framework ahead of the peak summer season.

With tourist numbers expected to surge in the coming months, authorities are placing a strong focus on expanding emergency medical capacity and improving coordination between key safety services.

These efforts are seen as essential to ensuring a stable and sustainable tourism sector.

A high-level meeting bringing together representatives from the tourism sector and major safety stakeholders, including police, fire services, emergency medical teams and civil protection, was held in Novalja.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the meeting aimed to further align operational plans ahead of the busy season.

As part of the initiative, contracts were awarded to co-finance tourist medical clinics across seven coastal counties. In Split-Dalmatia County, six clinics will operate this year in Trogir, Split, Supetar, Hvar, Omiš and Makarska.

More than €77,000 has been allocated to support these facilities, strengthening healthcare provision for both residents and visitors.

Alongside healthcare investment, the county continues to develop key safety infrastructure. A major project is the new fire training centre in Vučevica, designed to enhance preparedness, coordination and overall response capabilities of firefighting units.

County Prefect Blaženko Boban highlighted the importance of continuous investment and cooperation across services.

“Safety is not something that can be taken for granted, it is built, planned and lived every day, particularly during the tourist season when our county becomes home to tens of thousands of visitors,” Boban said.

He added that the combination of infrastructure projects and targeted funding, such as the investment in tourist clinics, demonstrates how safety and tourism can be successfully integrated into a sustainable model.

With high levels of tourist traffic anticipated, the strengthening of emergency medical services and coordinated safety systems represents a crucial step in ensuring a secure and high-quality experience for all visitors to the region.
