Rovinj
The 2025 Michelin selection was released on Tuesday, seeing two new restaurants in Croatia earning a star. Krug in Split and Cap Aureo in Rovinj were both awarded one star.
With Cap Aureo earning a star, the popular Istrian destination of Rovinj has quietly become one of Croatia’s most exciting culinary destinations.
Rovinj is now home to not one, not two, but three Michelin-starred restaurants.
Agli Amici Rovinj
Leading the pack is Agli Amici Rovinj, the only restaurant in the region currently holding two Michelin stars.
Located at the edge of the marina, this elegant seafront spot is run by head chef Simone De Lucca and overseen by Emanuele Scarello of the famed Agli Amici in Udine, Italy.

The restaurant offers two signature tasting menus—Rovinj, which focuses on seafood, and Istria, which highlights meat dishes. Both menus are a masterclass in Italian-Croatian fusion, with vibrant flavours, artful plating and seasonal ingredients that celebrate the best of land and sea.
Monte
Just steps from St. Euphemia’s Church lies Monte, Rovinj’s very first Michelin-starred restaurant and a pioneer in the town’s fine dining scene.

This family-run establishment opened its doors in 1985 and has since become a popular spot. Monte offers a unique tricolore menu, presenting guests with three different tasting journeys that evolve with the seasons.
By using locally sourced ingredients and reimagining traditional Istrian recipes with creative flair, Monte delivers an experience that is both comforting and surprising.

Cap Aureo
Perched on the fifth floor of the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, Cap Aureo brings stunning panoramic views of the marina and old town together with inventive, plant-forward cuisine.
Led by chef Jeffrey Vella, the restaurant has earned its Michelin star thanks to a bold approach to Istrian flavours and a deep respect for local produce.
Cap Aureo’s tasting menus range from three to twenty courses, offering guests a curated journey through the region’s culinary landscape. The focus on vegetables does not mean compromise—each dish is crafted with precision, creativity and a keen eye for balance.
