Ski-Holiday Sales Going Good Despite Crisis

Sales of winter ski holiday packages for this year’s ski season are in full swing. Despite the economic crisis that has engulfed Croatia, travel agencies expect sales to be on a par with last years.

Croatian travel agencies began putting out ski-package deals in July and prices this year are on the same level as in 2011. Croatians are still preferring to hit the slopes in Austria and Italy, but this year France has become more popular too as prices for packages in France have dropped.

Ivan Puksar, director of Kompas Agency, told newspaper Novi List that sales have been going well but that no great boom could be expected.

“For now sales are going as expected. Our situation is specific because we have about 60 to 70 percent of regular clients, so even this year we do not expect any surprises. Croatia has a set number of groups that going skiing so there is never any major changes,” said Puksar.
