2 June 2019 – Croatia’s Sinković brothers have become European rowing champions on Sunday, adding another gold medal to their collection.

Martin and Valent Sinković have won the gold medal in the Men’s Pair final at the 2019 European Rowing Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland on Sunday.

The brothers have defended their European championship title in dominant fashion, and now have four European championship gold medals to their name.

Martin and Valent started the final strong and after 500 metres had a lead of more than 2 seconds over the rest of the field. They did not ease up and finished in a time of 6:22.460. Romania took silver finishing with a time of 6.24.530, whilst the Spanish pair won bronze in a time of 6:26.310.

After dominating the double sculls discipline and remaining unbeaten for three years, the brothers did something which is rare in the sport of rowing and announced they would change classes to compete in the coxless pairs.

They became the first rowers in history to win World and European Championship gold medals in two disciplines.
