Simply Red announce Croatia concert at Pula Arena

One of Britain’s best-known bands, Simply Red, fronted by Mick Hucknall, will perform at Pula Arena in Croatia on 24 July 2027 as part of their major European and UK tour, Summer Funk ’27.

The Pula concert will form part of a special summer tour taking the Manchester-formed group to a selection of historic sites, outdoor settings, arenas and other distinctive venues across Europe and the United Kingdom.

Other locations announced for the tour include the Anfiteatro agli Scavi in Pompeii, Piazza San Marco in Venice, Gunnersbury Park in London, The Piece Hall in Halifax and Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.

The concert will see Simply Red perform at one of Croatia’s most recognisable historic landmarks, with the ancient Roman amphitheatre providing the setting for an evening featuring songs from the band’s more than four-decade career.

The Summer Funk ’27 tour will feature a selection of Simply Red’s best-known songs, including Fairground, Something Got Me Started and Money’s Too Tight (to Mention), alongside other material from the group’s extensive catalogue.

The tour’s concept combines live music with distinctive locations, with concerts planned as large-scale summer events in venues offering an experience beyond a traditional concert hall.

In Pula, that setting will be the Arena, one of the city’s defining landmarks and one of Croatia’s most recognisable historic concert venues.

Simply Red’s 2027 tour follows the band’s 40th anniversary celebrations in 2025. Their anniversary tour included almost 50 sold-out shows across the UK, Europe and Latin America.

Simply Red were formed in the mid-1980s and went on to become one of Britain’s most successful bands, developing a sound that combines soul, funk, pop, jazz and R&B influences.

Their catalogue includes international hits such as Holding Back the Years, If You Don’t Know Me by Now, Stars, Fairground and Something Got Me Started.

Hucknall remains the band’s lead vocalist, with the current line-up also featuring Ian Kirkham, Kenji Suzuki, Kevin Robinson, Roman Roth, Gary Sanctuary and Orefo Orakwue.

The Pula show will be one of the stops on the Summer Funk ’27 tour, which is scheduled to travel through Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia and the UK during June, July and August 2027.

Following their appearance in Pula, Simply Red will continue with further dates in Italy, including performances in Rome, Pompeii, Bari and Lucca.

On 24 July 2027, Pula Arena will therefore become one of the historic European settings for a band whose music has reached audiences around the world for more than 40 years.
