Simple Minds Set to Perform in Split

Split

Scottish rock legends Simple Minds are set to play in the Dalmatian city of Split in May.

Simple Minds will play to open the new Znjan beach complex on 5 May 2018, Tportal reports.

On Tuesday Split Mayor Andro Krstulovic Opara got the rumour mill started when he posted a YouTube clip of Simple Mind’s legendary hit ‘Alive and Kicking’ when just one word ‘Fire up’.

Tportal understands that the concert will be free to the public and will be held to symbolise the opening of part of the new Znjan beach as well as the start of the tourist season. The rest of Znjan beach is expected to open in 2020.

It is not the first time that Simple Minds have played in Split. Eight years ago the band sold out Spaladium Arena, with singer Jim Kerr taking the stage with a Hajduk Split scarf on.

Formed in Glasgow in 1977, Simple Minds were one of the most successful bands to come out of Scotland with achieving five UK number one albums during their career and selling over 60 million records worldwide.

More details about the concert as it comes to hand.
