A new Guinness World Record has been set in Šibenik with an outdoor exhibition featuring more than 2,300 children’s artworks inspired by the Dalmatian dog.

The exhibition, titled “The Spottiest Record in the World”, opened on Tuesday at Poljana square in the centre of Šibenik, bringing together drawings and paintings created by children from across Croatia.

A total of more than 2,300 artworks from 150 kindergartens and primary schools were submitted as part of the nationwide art competition.

Before the official opening, a Guinness World Records representative from London inspected the displayed works and confirmed that the required conditions for a new record had been met for the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to the Dalmatian dog. The achievement was then officially announced during the programme at Poljana.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until 21 September 2026, allowing residents and visitors to see the record-breaking collection.

The event also recognised the winners of the accompanying art competition. The judging panel was led by Croatian artist and art educator Zdenka Bilušić, while awards were presented to the young artists by Šibenik-Knin County Prefect Paško Rakić and Šibenik City Department for Social Affairs head Mirjana Žurić.

The competition and exhibition were launched by Kuća dalmatinskog psa (House of the Dalmatian Dog), Pet Centar and Purina Pro Plan, in cooperation with the City of Šibenik and the Croatian Kennel Club.

The project was held under the patronage of Croatia’s Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board and the Šibenik Tourist Board.

The Dalmatian dog, one of Croatia’s best-known canine symbols, provided the theme for the initiative, which brought together children from different parts of the country in what has now become an officially recognised Guinness World Record.
