Scholarship applications to learn Croatian language in Croatia open

ZAGREB, 3 June 2019 – The State Office for Croats Abroad is once again offering scholarships for Croatian language learning in Croatia.

Applications for scholarships for Croatian language learning in Croatia in the 2019/20 academic year are now open, the State Office for Croats Abroad announced on its website.

The aim of the scholarships is to help further a better understanding of the Croatian language and culture, as well as to foster the partnership with Croatians abroad and their descendants. It is hoped that the programme will help provide a stimulant for Croatians abroad and their descendants to return to Croatia.

Applicants must be aged over 18, completed at least secondary school and with residence outside Croatia or those who have been residing in Croatia for no more than three years. Those who can apply are people with Croatian heritage, their spouses, as well as friends of the Croatian people and the Republic of Croatia who can nurture Croatian identity and promote Croatian cultural unity.

Scholarship recipients can study in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka or Osijek. The scholarship covers cost of the course, plus subventions for two meals a day and part of accommodation costs.

Only electronic applications will be accepted. The application form can be found on the link here.

The deadline for applications is 1 July 2019. More details on the website, on email: [email protected] or call +385 (0)1/6444-683 between 10.00 – 15.00 on week days.
