Sarajevo–Ploče seasonal train returns for summer 2026

The Federal Railways of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željeznice Federacije BiH have announced the return of the seasonal international passenger train service between Sarajevo and Ploče for the 2026 summer travel period.

The Sarajevo–Ploče–Sarajevo train will operate from 26 June to 27 September 2026, running on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, providing a direct rail connection between the Bosnian capital and the Adriatic coast in southern Croatia.

The service will depart from Sarajevo at 07:15, with the return journey departing from Ploče at 18:26. The journey time is approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes in each direction.

The route is expected to serve both tourists and local travellers during the peak summer season, offering a scenic connection between inland Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Adriatic coastline.

Ticket Prices and Discounts

A one-way ticket will cost 29.30 BAM, while a return ticket will be priced at 48.30 BAM.

A range of discounts will be available:

• 30% discount for students, journalists, pensioners, and groups of six or more passengers

• 50% discount for blind and visually impaired passengers and their accompanying person

• 50% discount for children aged 4 to 12

• Children under four years of age travel free of charge

Changes to Domestic Rail Timetable

Due to the introduction of the seasonal international service, adjustments will be made to the afternoon train from Čapljina towards Sarajevo.

The revised stops and departure times are as follows:

• Čapljina – 19:29

• Žitomislići – 19:41

• Mostar – 19:56

• Drežnica Stara – 20:15

• Jablanica Grad – 20:29

• Konjic – 20:45

• Hadžići – 21:37

On weekdays from Monday to Thursday, the afternoon service from Čapljina to Sarajevo will continue to operate at its regular departure time of 16:42.

Ticket Availability

Authorities have confirmed that tickets for the Sarajevo–Ploče–Sarajevo service will not be available for purchase online, and passengers will need to obtain tickets through other sales channels.
