Romanians Set To Buy Croatian National Rail Company

Croatia’s Transport Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic is confident that Romanian investor Feroivar could become the new owner of Croatian national rail transport company HZ Cargo within a month.

The move to privatise HZ Cargo will be discussed this week in parliament, but according to reports Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and his cabinet look set to accept the Romanian proposal. If the Romanian bid is accepted then Feroivar will take over all HZ Cargo’s liabilities, including guarantees of around 110 million euros. Feroivar are a member of Grampet Group, the largest private rail group in Romania and in South-Eastern Europe.
