Sandra Paović has won in the women’s table tennis competition at the Rio Paralympics 2016 on Tuesday…

Sandra started off the tournament in style beating Korea’s Kunwoo Lee 3-0, she then faced two Ukrainians to set up a final with German Steffi Grebe. The Croatian, who only dropped 3 sets before the final, was too good for Grebe and won the match in style 3-0.

Paović, who was a former Croatian table tennis champion, representing Croatia at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, had a near fatal car accident in Paris in 2009 which left her without the use of her legs.

The 33-year-old made an amazing recovery which culminated in her returning to her beloved sport and being crowned the new World Para Table Tennis champion in China in 2014 and also the World Para layer of the Year Award presented by the International Table Tennis Federation.

Paović has now capped off her remarkable recovery with this medal in Rio, which is Croatia’s first gold and third medal at the Games.
