Revolution on the Hvar taxi market – PickApp arrives

HVAR, 16 May 2019 – As of yesterday, 15 May, the Croatian island of Hvar has a new taxi service – PickApp – an application for ordering a taxi and making it easier to move around on the island.

“We are confident that local residents as well as tourists visiting Hvar will enjoy the fact that from now on you can get a quality and affordable taxi service available 0-24h on Hvar. We want to provide a quality and accessible taxi service for our fellow citizens and the price will not change regardless of the tourist season.”

Just like Uber, all you have to do is install the PickApp application on your smartphone and the location where you are ordering your ride from. On average, the car will arrive in a few minutes and you can pay the driver directly by cash or card.

When ordering a ride, the application will show the total amount of the ride, a photo of the driver who will pick you up and the registration plate of the car. On a map of Hvar, you can track the car’s exact location so you know where your driver is currently and how long it will take to arrive to you.

The possibility to order a ride in Hvar via the PickApp taxi service application started yesterday and the company has announced that the service will be up to 45 percent cheaper than the standard taxi service in Hvar.

PickApp are convinced that their application will make it easier for locals and tourists who will be spending the summer in Hvar town to navigate their way around.

With the launch of the platform in Hvar, discounts have been made available for users making rides 50 percent cheaper. “We call on all Hvarians to take advantage of the 50% discount on their first ride by the end of this month.”

After the ride, all information about the trip, including price, information about the driver and map of the route taken as all trips are tracked via GPS, will be sent to you on your registered email address.

The fare prices are listed on the official pages of the taxi platform. The starting tariff is 29 kuna and every additional kilometre is 9 kuna plus 1 kuna per minute of the ride.

So, for example, a trip from the Hvar bus station ‘Dolac’ to Hvar’s Fortica (Spanish Fortress) will cost just around 40 kuna, and those wanting to go from Hvar to Milna will pay 79 kuna.

Rides can be ordered via the free PickApp application or on the official website www.pickapp.hr, and when ordering there is a choice of two types of vehicles; a standard vehicle for 4 persons or a van for 8 people. The estimated waiting time and total price will also be shown.

The company says that the vehicles are brand new and equipped with wireless internet connection and drivers are uniformed and licensed. They hope that Hvar locals, and tourists will choose PickApp and enjoy driving with them.

PickApp is available for iOS – https://itunes.apple.com/hr/app/pickapp-hvar/id1392396526?mt=8 and Android devices – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hr.com.pickapp.client&hl=hr and all information can be found on the official website: www.pickapp.hr
