Record number of tourists visit Dubrovnik in January

4 February 2019 – It has been a record start to the year for tourism in Dubrovnik, the Croatian Tourist Board reported on Monday.

According to the eVisitor system, not including nautical data, from 1 – 31 January 2019 a total of 16,878 tourists visited Dubrovnik. This is 41% more than in January last year and the most ever in January in history.

There were 38,436 overnight stays recorded, 11% more than the same period last year. The most registered visitors in January in Dubrovnik ,apart from those from Croatia, arrived from Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Korea, USA, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Finland and Austria.

From 1 – 31 January 2019, 14,574 guests stayed in 51 Dubrovnik hotels, which represented an increase of 48% from last year. 1,585 were registered in private accommodation during January, up 11% from last year.  

The recorded numbers in Dubrovnik in January was the result of direct winter flights from seven European destinations, as well as the introduction of senior group charters from Scandinavia and Germany, organised by travel agency WTouristic.

The charters will bring over 30,000 guests to Dubrovnik until 11 May.
