Record number of Croatians in the UEFA Champions League (HNS)
A record number of Croatian players will be taking part in this seasons’ UEFA Champions League.
Almost half of the clubs involved have at least one Croatian player in the squad, whilst two clubs have Croatian coaches, goal.hr reports.
Whilst Croatia does not have a club involved this season after Dinamo Zagreb were knocked out in the playoff stage by Young Boys, never have as many Croatian players been involved in a UEFA Champions League campaign with 21 players set to take part.
Modrić, who played all 90 minutes in the final, has now won the UEFA Champions League four times with Real Madrid – in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Kovačić was in the squad for the last three.
A Croatian player has been in a winning Champions League side for the last six years in a row with Luka Modrić winning four of them with Real Madrid.
