Sheikh Hamad bin KhalifaAl-Thani and his wife arrived in Zadar before meeting with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović in Šibenik.
Welcoming the Father Emir of Qatar, Grabar-Kitarović expressed her satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides emphasized the great opportunities that exist in developing cooperation, and also the need to create the framework for strengthening cooperation of businesses and encourage investment, and in articular, greenfield and brownfield investments in Croatia.
The pair also exchanged information and views on security issues and challenges, both in the Middle East and across northern Africa.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani established the Qatar Investment Authority; by 2013 it had invested over $100 billion around the world, most prominently in The Shard, Barclays Bank, Heathrow Airport, Harrods, Paris Saint-Germain F.C., Volkswagen, Siemens and Royal Dutch Shell.
