President meets with Croatian Community in Calgary

CALGARY, 16 May 2019 – The President of the Republic Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met with representatives of the Croatian community in Calgary. 

President Grabar-Kitarović presented the Charter of the Republic of Croatia for services in preserving and strengthening the bonds between the Croatian Homeland and Croatians from the Diaspora to the Catholic parishes and churches and to the Croatian Canadian Cultural Centre for their work in providing spiritual care, preserving the language, the cultural and national identity, and promoting community spirit among the Croatian community.

In her address the President mentioned her pride as Croatian President when her counterparts, including the Governor General of Canada and the Prime Minister, highlight the Croats as a nation having integrated into society with their knowledge, professionalism, responsibility, and their dedication to work, family and the society in which they live.

In presenting the Charter of the Republic of Croatia, President Grabar-Kitarović thanked the recipients for their community spirit, continued and persevering work. In her congratulatory message she expressed confidence that they will be a stimulus for further work in the interest of our Croatian people.
