Population of Croatia now 3.8 million: The 10 biggest cities

Croatia has released the first results of the census of population, households and dwellings which was conducted in 2021. 

According to the first results, Croatia now has a population of 3,888,529 people, this is almost 400,000 fewer than 10 years ago. 

“In the last 10 years, the number of residents decreased by 396,000 (people),” said Lidija Brković from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics on Friday at a press conference in Zagreb. 

Only three cities in Croatia now have over 100,000 people, they are the capital Zagreb, which is the largest, Split and Rijeka. 

According to the results of the census, these are now the 10 cities and towns in Croatia with the most residents. 

1. Zagreb – 769,944 residents
