ZAGREB, 14 Feb (Hina) – Pope Leo XIV has appointed Croatian nun Nina Benedikta Krapić as deputy director of the Holy See Press Office, the Vatican said on Friday. She will take up the post on 1 March, according to Vatican News.

She will replace Christiane Murray in the role.

Krapić, a member of the Sisters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul and an official at the Dicastery for Communication since 2023, is currently pursuing a doctorate in social sciences at the Collegium Maximum of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

Born in 1989 in Rijeka, she graduated in law in 2015 and later specialised in public relations at the Zagreb Faculty of Political Science. She took her vows with the Sisters of Charity in August 2023.

She previously worked as a journalist and contributor to Croatian Catholic Radio, Radio Maria and the Mreže Riječi portal.

Krapić also served as a legal adviser at the St Ana shelter for women and children victims of domestic violence in Rijeka, assisting survivors and other vulnerable individuals. Before moving to the Vatican, she ran a migrant transit centre in the city.
