Podravka has officially completed the acquisition of Fortenova Group’s agricultural division, marking a historic milestone for the Croatian food giant.
With the signing of the transfer agreement, Podravka has taken over key agricultural companies, including Belje, Vupik, PIK Vinkovci, Energija Gradec, Belje Agro-Vet, and Felix.
This move cements Podravka’s position as Croatia’s largest food processing company and a leading player in the region.
As the new owner, Podravka will manage these agricultural businesses through its subsidiary, Podravka Agri.
A New Era for Podravka
“This acquisition opens a new chapter in Podravka’s history. The Group will now exceed €1 billion in revenue and employ over 8,800 people. Successfully completing this complex process highlights our commitment to the development of Croatia’s economy and agriculture,” said Podravka CEO Martina Dalić. She welcomed the new companies into the Podravka family and emphasised plans for significant investment and ambitious growth.
Fortenova Group CEO Fabris Peruško also acknowledged the efforts behind the deal. “This marks the conclusion of a one-year process to transfer our agricultural division. I want to thank all teams for their dedication and professionalism. More importantly, Podravka is gaining highly skilled employees whose expertise will bring added value to their business,” he said. Peruško added that this agreement represents the beginning of a strong new partnership between Fortenova and Podravka.

Podravka Agri Takes the Lead
The newly acquired agricultural companies will be integrated into Podravka’s structure under the leadership of Davor Doko, a member of Podravka’s management board. His focus will be on efficient integration and improving performance across the agricultural segment. Ines Ignjatović, who led the acquisition process, will now transition to a strategic role within Podravka.
Podravka Agri will invest in modernising technology, improving irrigation systems, and enhancing working conditions for employees.
“I want to welcome all employees of the newly acquired companies to Podravka Agri. Their expertise and dedication are crucial to our shared success. One of our key goals is improving working conditions and investing in infrastructure and workforce development,” said Doko.
Strengthening Domestic Agriculture
Podravka Agri will continue working with all existing agricultural partners and plans to expand its network of suppliers. This will strengthen domestic production and ensure supply chain stability. The company remains committed to fostering strong partnerships with local farmers in the coming years.
EBRD’s Strategic Investment
In late 2023, Podravka partnered with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), securing a €50 million investment in Podravka Agri. As a result, Podravka holds an 84.99% stake in the company, while EBRD owns 15.01%.
“This is one of the biggest acquisitions in the region’s food sector in recent years. Our investment will help develop the newly acquired agricultural companies, boost competitiveness, and promote sustainable practices. We are proud to strengthen our strategic partnership with Podravka,” said Miljan Ždrale, EBRD’s regional director for Central Europe.
