SPLIT, 22 June 2025 – The city of Split officially unveiled the newly renovated Žnjan Plateau last night, marking the completion of a major infrastructural and urban renewal project.
The opening, held on the first day of summer, attracted a large crowd including citizens, local officials, government representatives, and project contributors.
The revamped coastal zone, one of the most significant developments in recent years, has been transformed into a modern, well-organised public space designed for both residents and visitors.
The new Žnjan is more than just a beach – it is envisioned as a vibrant gathering spot for cultural events, sports activities, and public celebrations.

Speaking at the opening, Mayor Tomislav Šuta described the event as a historic day for the city and its people.
“We have gained a space that offers much more than just sun and sea. It will serve as a venue for various events, cultural gatherings, and sporting activities that are essential to life in Split. This is now one of the largest green areas in the city,” said Šuta, extending thanks to everyone involved in the project’s development, which dates back to 1998 when the original Žnjan plateau was first created.

“Spaces like this reshape the identity of a city and improve quality of life. They influence how residents relate to their surroundings. This is a project that will remain as a legacy for future generations,” said Glavina.
