The premiere of the theatre play “Luka Modrić: Moja Igra” (My Game) took place last night at Scenoteka in Zagreb.
Organised by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and Boss Teatar, the production presents the inspirational life story of Croatian football legend Luka Modrić – brought to life from a fresh, theatrical perspective.
Directed by Arija Rizvić and written by Valentina and Luka Mavretić, the play successfully captures Modrić’s personal journey.
Through a layered and emotional performance, the production follows his path from a childhood marked by war and displacement, through the challenges and doubts of his sporting career, to his rise as one of the world’s top footballers.
Actors Matej Đurđević, Gloria Dubelj and Denis Bosak delivered compelling performances that resonated strongly with the audience.
The play’s core themes – perseverance, humility, and self-belief – were communicated with warmth and sincerity, drawing a long, heartfelt round of applause at the end of the performance.

HNS President Marijan Kustić shared his admiration for the play, saying:
“I’m thrilled with the production. Congratulations to Arija, the lead actor, and everyone involved. It sends a powerful message to children that great results come from hard work – and, of course, that nothing is possible without family. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the children were amazed. I even spoke with Luka’s sisters, and it’s incredible how well the actor portrayed not just Luka’s voice but his entire character. I’m deeply impressed.”

Luka Modrić’s sisters, Jasmina and Diora, were also in attendance and full of praise for the show.
“Luka’s life was portrayed very authentically,” said Jasmina. “The play was humorous, educational and truly enjoyable – the best performance we’ve attended. Congratulations to the whole team!”
Diora added: “The actor played Luka brilliantly without turning him into a caricature. It was a great balance, and I believe Luka will really enjoy it too – it’s both educational and entertaining.”

Director Arija Rizvić expressed her gratitude for the audience’s reaction and emphasised the significance of the project.
“I’m overjoyed by the response – both children and adults connected with the play. I believe this will become a hit production. It was a great challenge, honour and responsibility. We didn’t want to create something like a Wikipedia entry but rather tell a theatrical story that’s engaging for everyone. We aimed to show his vulnerability, warmth, family support, and allow the audience to experience his journey alongside our stage Luka,” she said.
