PHOTOS: First 5-star hotel to open on island of Hvar

19 August 2019 – The first 5-star hotel on the Dalmatian island of Hvar is set to fully open for business this month. 

The Palace Elisabeth Hvar Heritage Hotel starts its ‘soft opening’ this week after gaining its 5-star categorisation a few days ago. CEO of the Sunčani Hvar group, Gordana Tomicic, told Jutarnji list that the hotel now has all the required documentation to start operating as the island’s first 5-star hotel.

Hotel Palace Elisabeth is a combination of heritage and timeless classic design with a unique entrance passing through the original walls of the former Rector’s Palace, which were found during the two-year renovation and reconstruction of what was formerly the Palace hotel.

Situated in the heart of Hvar town, Palace Elisabeth enjoys spectacular views of the harbour and main square and is considered a historic landmark with stunning Venetian and Austrian architectural details.

The history of the palace dates back to the 13th century and in 1899 it was rebuilt under the name Spa Hotel Empress Elisabeth; the famous Austrian Empress Sisi who was known for her exceptional travelling lifestyle.

Palace Elisabeth is the first full service 5-star heritage hotel in Hvar and includes 45 luxury rooms and suites. The hotel also includes a luxurious spa oasis, a restaurant and stylish lounge bar, pool with panoramic terrace and pool bar a fitness studio and more.

Tomicic says that there has already been big interest from guests from the United States, the UK, Brazil and Australia.

“Hotel Palace Elisabeth will provide the highest standards of luxury, which will positively influence the development of the whole destination and position Hvar at the top of the hotel offer in this area,” she stated.

The hotel is a part of the Leading Hotels of the World since 2019.
