[PHOTOS] Filming Starts in Dubrovnik for History Channel Series

Filming for a new American historical fiction drama television series for the History Channel got underway in Dubrovnik on Croatia’s southern Adriatic coast on Monday 27 June 2016…

Dubrovnik is currently filming location for Knightfall -a series that recounts the fall, persecution, and burning at the stake of The Templar Knights, orchestrated by Pope Clement V and King Philip IV of France on Friday, October the 13, 1307. The series looks at why this date, more than several hundred years later haunts us.

The series will spend a reported 1.2 million euros during three days of filming in Dubrovnik and via Croatia’s 20% filming incentive the production will benefit from a return of investment of the overall budget spent in the country, amounting to around 232,000 euros.

For the filming in Croatia the production relies on 135 Croatian technicians and crew are being used in the production which is being handled by Pakt Media.

The series is directed by Douglas MacKinnon and produced by the US A+E Television Networks and Czech Stillking Films and stars Tom Cullen (Downton Abbey), Bobby Schofield (Black Sea, Our World War), Sabrina Bartlett, Olivia Ross and others.

After Croatia, the production heads to Prague for the rest of the shoot.
