One of those South American nations with a Croatian community is Ecuador, where it is believed around 5,000 people with Croatian heritage reside.
Last weekend the community of Croats and descendants had a dinner in the city port of Guayaquil, due to the visit of Mrs. Nives Malenica, Ambassador of Croatia in Chile, whose diplomatic function covers Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile.
Around 200 people attended from the cities of Quito, Guayaquil and Manta. It was the first time in Ecuador that Croats and descendants from the diaspora gathered. Below are some photos from the event.
