Oxford Beat Cambridge in Boat Race in Split

IMG_7472Oxford have beaten rivals Cambridge and legends of Split to win the 14th International Regatta “Sv. Duje” (St. Dominus), which was held in the Dalmatian city of Split over the weekend…

Oxford and Cambridge universities have famously raced against each other annually on the River Thames in the UK since the mid 1800’s, and over the weekend it was the 11th time that they have raced each other in Croatia.

Oxford’s winning eights over 222 metres yesterday consisted of Jan Herzog, Matt Smith, Alastair Heathcote, Luka Grubor, Sam o’Connor, Michael di Santo, Ian Mandale, Henry Goodier and Lawrence Harvey. This year’s regatta was the first time Oxford and Cambridge had a women’s team also race. (photo / regatta sv.duje)
