Josipović (57), who was ousted in the recent elections by Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, will return to the job he done before he became Croatia’s President in 2010 – a Criminal Procedural Law lecturer at Zagreb’s Law University. However according to Croatian law Josipović will be entitled to receive his full ‘Presidential’ salary for the next 6 months. After that he will be entitled to receive 50% of that salary for another 6 months. The President’s monthly salary is reportedly 23,000 kuna (3,000 euros).
It is not only Josipović who will receive his pay for the next year, any staff member he had who is not required by the new president will also be entitled to the same deal. Grabar Kitarović will be inaugurated on 19 February.
