One Dead As Croatia Freezes

Freezing temperatures greeted Croatians around the country on Monday morning as icy conditions disrupted traffic and kept hospital staff busy in most areas.

One person reportedly froze to death in the region of Lika yesterday and more than 80 people have been taken to A&E centres for injuries sustained as a result of the heavy snow and ice the country has been blanketed under the last two days.

-18 degrees celsius was recorded on Monday morning in eastern Croatia and also -17 degrees was measured at Zagreb International Airport. The extreme cold is set to continue for the best part of the week.
