The 21-year-old former Dinamo Zagreb playmaker will undergo a medical tomorrow and pen a 6-year deal with the Madrid club. The fee was not disclosed, but it is reportedly in the vicinity of 40 million euros (including bonuses), making it the highest transfer in Croatian history. Dinamo Zagreb will benefit out of the deal also, with the club receiving 5% of the fee.
Kovačić becomes the sixth Croatian to wear the famous Real Madrid shirt after Igor Jovičević, Robert Prosinečki, Davor Šuker, Robert Jarni and Luka Modrić.
Kovačić will be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, Real Madrid announced on their official website.
